In both his macro and street images, Dan Bauman challenges us to reexamine the familiar. His macro photographs use innovative lighting to make seemingly mundane materials—table salt, brown sugar, hand sanitizer—reveal a beautiful hidden complexity. His street images, captured not just on urban streets but on trains, piers, and other overlooked corners of public life, reflect a broader sense of what a ‘street’ can be.

Dan's images have been exhibited in New York City, Spencertown, NY, and Kinderhook, NY.  His work has been printed in The New York Times and publications affiliated with the American Museum of Natural History. Dan lives in New York City, where he balances his passion for photography with his career in psychiatry.

In both his macro and street images, Dan Bauman challenges us to reexamine the familiar. His macro photographs use innovative lighting to make seemingly mundane materials—table salt, brown sugar, hand sanitizer—reveal a beautiful hidden complexity. His street photographs draw attention to what often escapes notice—fleeting glances, subtle patterns, and the myriad of personalities quietly shaping public space.
